Wrongful Death Claim
The Wrongful Death claim allows you to file a lawsuit against the party whose actions have led to the death. But in order to file a claim, you must be the spouse, child, parent or a direct representative of the deceased. A wrongful death claim allows you to claim:
- Medical expenses including the doctor's fees and hospitalization costs
- Funeral expenses
- Loss of income the money that the deceased person would have contributed to his family had he/she been alive
- Suffering compensation for the grief caused to the family due to the loss of a loved one
- Punitive damages these are evaluated against reckless or irresponsible behavior. The aim is to prevent such behavior in future.
